When JACK (60) is released from a long prison sentence, he catches a ride to a secluded motel in the middle of desert country. Upon arriving, he spots a suspicious-looking man - Victor - in possession of a little girl. Her face hides a fear that Jack intuitively picks up on. They disappear in to the motel. After an encounter with Bill, the grotesque building manager who notices Jack's ex-con status from his lack of luggage, dated clothes and tattooed hand, Jack checks in to his room. Jack reveals an old photo of a young girl with a number on the back. He cannot bring himself to call. He showers, revealing a body littered with scars and tattoos. Finally, Jack calls Katie - the girl in the photo and his now-grown daughter. However, she wants nothing to do with him, not after what has happened in the past: something unforgettable. Something linked to the violence. Night falls. A car screeches to a halt outside and Jack watches as an enraged Victor storm in to his room.
